Historical Sketch
Sanford Henry Lee, educator and Farm Demonstration Extension agent of Georgia from 1929-1948, was born January 14, 1878 in Coffee County, Alabama. Mr. Lee began his education in the Alabama school system and became a graduate of Tuskegee institute in the 1904. He was a member of Stewart Chapel AME Church were he served as superintendent of the Sunday school, Sunday school teacher, church clerk , vice president of the senior choir and vice president of the Durbar Literary Club. Sanford Lee was also a Bibb County. Georgia Farm Agent and served as the March of Dimes Chairman of Bibb County.

Provenance
The Sanford Henry Lee Papers were given by Alyce K. Friend, who is the administrator of the Lillie Belle Barnes Estate. Ms. Lillie Belle is the cousin of Sanford H. Lee and was instrumental in the development of the Fulton Country Council on Aging.
