Overview

The collection consists of letters from Langston Hughes to Olive Lindsey Wakefield (wife of Paul Wakefield) of Springfield, Illinois from 1945-1955. The often lengthy letters discuss Hughes' activities including his writings and appearances, family and friends, and thoughts on a variety of subjects. Also includes a bibliography of his works, announcements of his speaking and reading engagements, play announcements, reviews of his works, and periodicals which include his poems.
