The collection consists of correspondence, minutes of meetings, committee reports, programs, and financial and legal records of the Azalea Chapter of The Links, Inc. Biographical / Historical
The Links, Inc. is a public service, international organization of African-American women founded in November 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by two women. It is a volunteer organization dedicated to promoting educational, cultural, and civic activities among its members. The organization also seeks to provide opportunities for the enrichment of personal friendships. Each chapter initiates, supports, and participates in programs designed to address the needs of their communities in areas such as services to youth, the arts, national trends and services, and international trends and services.
The Azalea Chapter of The Links, Inc. was chartered on June 26, 1995, with 54 members. The members of the Azalea City Chapter are committed to serving their communities with love, enthusiasm, and a dedication to making a difference for all mankind. Their collaborative efforts extend widely into churches, community agencies, schools, medical centers, and legislative domains. Several committees within the Chapter plan programs and raise funds for many educational institutions and charitable programs in Azalea City.
