Biographical / Historical

Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. was founded in 1929 in Chicago, Illinois by Lola Mercedes Parker. Parker sought to create the first Greek-lettered business sorority for African American businesswomen.

The Delta chapter was founded in 1930 by Odessa Parada Williams and as a business sorority the organization has offered training to women in the metro Atlanta area. The Delta chapter has also offered its services in community outreach.

Iota Phi Lambda Sorority's mission "to unite in a sisterhood, qualified business and professional women who will encourage, inspire, nurture, and assist persons engaged in business vocations."* Is exemplified by the Delta Chapter of Atlanta who are committed to serving its community through outreach and mentoring.
