Biographical / Historical

The Links, Inc. is a public service, international organization of African-American women that was founded by two women in November 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It is a volunteer organization committed to promoting educational, cultural, and civic activities among its membership. It also seeks to provide opportunities for the enrichment of personal friendships. Each chapter initiates, supports, and participates in programs designed to address the needs of their communities in the areas of services to youth, the arts, national trends and services, and international trends and services.

The Buckhead-Cascade City Chapter was chartered in 1995, and much of the chapter's community service efforts are documented in this collection. This chapter was founded by former members of the Peachtree Suburban (formerly East Cobb) chapter. There are six chapters in the metro Atlanta area: Atlanta, Azalea City, Buckhead-Cascade City, Camellia Rose, Dogwood City, and the Magnolia Chapter.

The Links, Inc. Buckhead-Cascade City Chapter Records consists of the papers and materials of the chapter, documenting community service, fundraising, social events, and youth services.
