Biographical / Historical
Reverend Carolyn Mobley was born in Sanford, Florida and completed her early education in Seminole County, Florida. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Education at Hardin-Simmons University (Abilene, Texas) and a Master’s Degree in Religious Education at the Interdenominational Theological Center (Atlanta, GA).
Reverend Mobley has been an active participant in her denomination since 1976 holding positions ranging from staff to interim minister. She founded the Atlanta Feminist Women’s Chorus and was the first woman co-chair of the African-American Lesbian Gay Alliance. Together with her partner, Reverend Adriane Bowie, she developed A Ministry of Inspiration which offers congregations workshops on various topics, concerts, and worship experiences including music and spoken word.

This collection of Carolyn Mobley covers the years 1981 to 2009. The collection contains notes, general correspondence, writings by others, newspaper clippings, flyers, newsletters, minutes, publications, and other printed materials relating to various LGBT and/or feminist organizations or related persons.
