Scope and Contents note
This collection includes personal records documenting the life of Aida Rentas. A substantial portion of the collection is photographs. It also includes correspondence, memoranda, newspaper clippings, printed material, scrapbooks, biographical material and writings by Rentas.

Biographical note
Aida Rentas is a community activist who founded Latinos En Accion. She served on the board of the Georgia Equality Project and headed the Atlanta Civilian Review Board. She was active in creating the Gay and Lesbian Visitors Center for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. In 1996, she received the Human Rights Campaign Community Award. In 2005, she founded the Grass Roots Institute, which supported children of single parents during their spring, summer and winter breaks from school. Rentas currently resides in Puerto Rico.
