Biographical / Historical
Frankie Arnold was born in 1930 and spent most of her life residing and serving the city of Fairburn, Georgia. She served her community in a multitude of ways by working on and volunteering in schools, churches, and nonprofit committees and organizations. She and her husband, Lawrence Arnold, had seven children -- three biological children and four foster children adopted in their elder years.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Arnold received numerous awards for her work and giving spirit, including "Outstanding Community Service," "Woman of the Year", "Mrs. South Fulton" and "Youth Support Award" -- to name a few. She is remembered as a "vivacious citizen of Fairburn" and is known for her friendliness, happiness, unselfishness, and faith.
In addition to her community and volunteer work, Frankie Arnold was the first African American woman elected to the Fairburn City Council in 1995. In 1999, she received the most votes among the six within the campaign.
Mrs. Arnold died in 2025 at the age of 95.
