Biographical / Historical
Frankie Arnold was born in 1930 and spent the last approximatly 50 years of her life residing and serving the city of Fairburn, Georgia. She served in a multitude of ways by working on and volunteering in schools, churches, and nonprofit committees and organizations. Frankie and her husband, Lawerance Arnold, in addition to having 3 children of their own, adopted 4 foster children in their elder years.
Throughout her life she received numerous awards for her work and giving spirit. "Outstanding Community Service", "Woman of the Year", "Mrs. South Fulton", and "Youth Support Award" are a few to name. She is remembered as a "vivacious citizen of Fairburn" and is known for her friendliness, happiness, unselfishness, and faith.
In addition to her community and volunteer work, Frankie Arnold served on the Fairburn City Council since 1995. She was the first African American woman to be elected and in 1999 she received the most votes among the six winners within the campaign.
