Scope and Contents note

Series 1, International Year of the Child, is organized into two subseries: Subseries A, Administrative and Subseries B, Events, Publications, and Reports. This series contains correspondence, reports, meeting minutes and agendas, programs, fliers, publications, articles, brochures, newsletters, speeches, and ephemera documenting administrative functions, committees, events, and participating organizations and countries. The International Year of the Child was a program of the United Nations, supported by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Children's Defense Fund, to raise awareness of the needs and rights of children across the globe. Topics of events include nutrition, education, health, literacy, television, hunger, legislation, juvenile justice, and mental health.
